Jackie became a part of the Sangha Space community in 2013, and recently started her yoga internship with us! Her positivity and kindness are contagious. Jackie brings her honest, open personality into her classes where she connects with other students and shares her love of movement arts. She is usually practicing yoga at the studio Thursday nights!

I was born in Santa Clara California
HOW DID YOU ENCOUNTER YOGA?
My first encounter with Yoga was at a therapist’s office. It was an experiment to see if it could help me cope with my childhood anxiety.
ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO YOGA?
My advice would be stick to it. For whatever means you are trying Yoga, you are cultivating what you need. It takes time. If you stick with it long enough it has the potential to help with things you may have not even known you needed help with.

Meditative, Freeing, Fun!
WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT UTILIZING PARTNER POSES DURING YOGA?
Partner poses are fantastic; they make you so aware of your posture because you are being relied on. It increases communication and trust. To top it off, partner poses are a great reminder that even though you are solo on your mat most of the time, you are still part of a greater community.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TAKING CLASSES AT SANGHA SPACE?
I love the freedom that Sangha Space has with their classes. They are both super therapeutic and fun.
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE CURRENTLY LEARNING MORE ABOUT IN YOUR MOVEMENT PRACTICE?
I am learning more about the benefits of postures throughout a sequence.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE POSE OR PART OF YOUR YOGA PRACTICE?
Currently my favorite pose is forearm/handstand of which I am in the process of learning :o)
WHAT OTHER ACTIVITIES (BESIDES TANGO/YOGA) DO YOU ENJOY?
I love making things, knitting, gardening, furniture and cooking. When I need a moment, the forest is where I can often be found.
IF YOU WERE TO WIN THE LOTTERY, HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR TIME?
If I had the means, I would love to go about and help people who live with PTSD and just teach. I would also just travel for my own sake.
WHAT’S SOMETHING SECRETLY AWESOME ABOUT YOU THAT PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW?
I am Reiki II certified and my mum, who is a Reiki master, is the one who certified me.
