MEET OUR VERY OWN LITTLE DEBBIE!

Debbie

WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
Dayton, Ohio

HOW DID YOU ENCOUNTER TANGO?
How do I answer that? I just always wanted to learn to dance tango and after the divorce and the death of my mother, I thought, “Wow, I think it’s time.”

ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO TANGO?
Fall in love.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE TANGO IN 3 WORDS?
Can I come back to that one?
[Chris Welc happened to be passing by and chimed in: Banana bread bliss!]

I let go.

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT EXCHANGING ROLES?
HAHAHAHAHAHA! There is no best thing! It’s being able to feel both parts. You know I hate to lead but I think the advantage is that it does make you a better dancer.

[Elly here. Debbie’s really a caterpillar kick ass leader. Just wait til she transforms into a butterfly. She’ll write a poem about it, I betcha.]

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT SANGHA SPACE?
My favorite thing is the community. Yeah, how do I say this? It’s just a warm and welcoming place where anybody can be comfortable.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TANGO SONG/ORQUESTRA?
I do love “What Lola Wants” and I do love dancing to “I’ve Got a Brand New Key” and I do love dancing to “Skyscrapers” (by OK Go).

WHAT OTHER ACTIVITIES (BESIDES TANGO) DO YOU ENJOY?
Not having anything to do with being here, right?… Just in general? Gardening, baking, communing with nature, being one with the universe.

IF YOU WERE TO WIN THE LOTTERY, HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR TIME?
I’d still work. I’d travel a whole lot more. I’d fix my house up. And I’d pay off all my kid’s loans….that’s how I’d spend the money, not how I’d spend my time. I’d still work and do the things I do.

WHAT’S SOMETHING SECRETLY AWESOME ABOUT YOU THAT PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW?
Hahahaha!

[I so wish you could hear Lil’ Debbie’s laugh. It’s simply like happy bells.]
